Efficient drying systems: Wood Energy Group increases number of dryers and energy savings

An important milestone for the Wood Energy Group! With the installation of 14 new Mühlböck 1306 PRO drying kilns in Belgium, the drying capacity at the largest IBV site in Vielsalm has been increased to 500,000 m3/year.

This expansion is a response to the growing demand for dried sawn timber. In the course of the expansion, the 20 existing Mühlböck drying kilns were also converted to the latest dryer control system from Mühlböck.

The choice of the energy-efficient 1306 PRO drying kilns from Mühlböck fits perfectly into IBV's concept in connection with the operation of the biomass power plant, in which both heat and electricity are generated.
The new 1306 PRO drying systems reduce heat consumption by up to 25% and minimize electricity consumption thanks to their unique design.

The installation of the new dryers was a challenge that was mastered by carefully coordinating the energy requirements and the start of operation of the power plant. IBV has been relying on Mühlböck technology for wood drying for 15 years and now has 34 Mühlböck drying kilns.

"The installation and commissioning of the drying kilns was exemplary and smooth, taking into account the multi-layered progress of the entire construction site and meeting the deadlines," says Andreas Pauls, Production Manager in Vielsalm, emphasizing Mühlböck's performance.
